It’s been nearly a decade since the Chargers were this good, with their last 10-win season coming in 2009 when LaDainian Tomlinson was still the starting running back. Los Angeles can move into a tie atop the AFC West with a Thursday night win over the Kansas City Chiefs, who lead them by a game.
Quarterback Philip Rivers, now in his 15th NFL season, has led the Chargers’ resurgence. He has thrown 29 touchdowns to six interceptions — the best ratio of his career. But dynamic Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes could win the MVP in his second year in the league, having tossed 43 passing scores this season.
